Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ExpenseEye

Is my financial data safe?

Absolutely. Your data is processed temporarily and deleted immediately after your session ends. We don't store, share, or retain any of your financial information.

What CSV formats are supported?

ExpenseEye supports 20+ bank formats including Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, and more. Our intelligent parser automatically detects your bank's format.

How does subscription detection work?

We analyze transaction patterns to identify recurring charges with similar amounts and regular intervals. Subscriptions need at least 3 occurrences to be detected.

What is overspending analysis?

We calculate your average monthly spending and use statistical methods to identify months where you spent significantly more than usual (typically 1.5+ standard deviations above average).

Do I need to create an account?

No! ExpenseEye works without any account creation. Just upload your CSV and get instant results.

Can I use demo mode?

Yes! Click 'Try Demo with Sample Data' on the homepage to explore ExpenseEye with realistic sample transactions without uploading your own data.

What file size limit is there?

We support CSV files up to 200MB, which is more than enough for years of transaction history.

Is ExpenseEye open source?

Yes! Our code is available on GitHub for transparency. You can verify our privacy claims and even contribute to the project.

How accurate is the analysis?

Our algorithms use statistical best practices including historical baselines and standard deviation analysis. Accuracy improves with more transaction history (6+ months recommended).

Can I export my results?

Currently, results are displayed on-screen only. We're working on adding export functionality while maintaining our privacy-first approach.

What if my bank isn't supported?

Our parser is designed to handle most CSV formats automatically. If your bank uses a standard format with Date, Description, and Amount columns, it should work.

Is ExpenseEye free?

Yes! ExpenseEye is completely free to use with no hidden costs, subscriptions, or premium tiers.
